Meghan Markle admits Nigeria outfit change for culture issue | Royal | News

Meghan Markle’s choice of dress during her three-day Nigeria visit with Prince Harry has sparked a fan frenzy as people comment on how “culturally appropriate” Meghan’s attire is.

For day two of her visit to the West African country, Meghan looked glamorous in a Johanna Ortiz silk black and white midi dress with a thigh-split and a black tropical print.

As part of celebrations for the Invictus Games, Meghan and Harry sat to watch a volleyball match at Nigeria Unconquered – a community-based charitable organization dedicated to aiding wounded, injured, or sick servicemembers.

Meghan teamed her £1375 ($1,716) dress with Emme Parsons ‘Cecelia’ black leather sandals and her signature oversized black sunglasses.

And the Duchess of Sussex left Harry for a few hours on Saturday as she co-chaired a panel focusing on Women in Leadership. Meghan wore three outfits through the day, and she admitted that she had quickly ‘got the memo’ around what to wear to fit in with the local culture.

Addressing the audience in another outfit, a £230 ‘ethical’ maxi dress from a Nigerian designer, Meghan said: “It has been a whirlwind 24 hours since we arrived, and I very quickly got the memo that I need to wear more colour so I can fit in with all of you in your incredible fashion.”

One royal fan claimed: “I am not generally a fan of Meghan’s style, but she looks fantastic, and perfectly appropriate both for the climate and the event!”

The Duchess of Sussex briefly left Harry on Saturday as she co-hosted a panel event focussed on Women in Leadership. Meghan wore three outfits that day, attending several events throughout the pair’s unofficial “royal tour” of the African country.
