Matildas star Katrina Gorry missing from West Ham’s Perth International Football Cup clash

Matildas star Katrina Gorry was a notable absentee, but Courtney Nevin made it out for a 30-minute cameo as Leicester City thumped West Ham 5-2 in the women’s Perth International Football Cup.

In Sunday’s third versus fourth play-off, Leicester scored three goals in the first half and led 5-0 late before West Ham substitute Viviane Asseyi struck in the 90th and 96th minutes.

Manchester City, featuring star Matildas duo Mary Fowler and Alanna Kennedy, will take on French outfit Paris Saint-Germain in the final at HBF Park on Sunday evening.

But Nevin, who missed Leicester’s penalty-shootout loss to Manchester City on Wednesday night, was introduced in the 60th minute on Sunday with her team already leading West Ham 4-0.

“It was amazing bringing my teammates to Australia and for them to witness my culture,” Nevin said after the match.

Leicester were able to bury most of their best chances in a one-sided first half.

Noemie Mouchon set up the opening goal in the 10th minute when she stripped her opponent of the ball and raced into the box before squaring a pass to Yuka Momiki for an easy tap-in.

A brilliant double save from West Ham goalkeeper Kinga Szemik momentarily kept Leicester at bay in the 20th minute, but it didn’t take long for the floodgates to open.

Missy Goodwin produced a dangerous square-up to gift Sam Tierney a goal in the 33rd minute.

And Goodwin scored a goal of her own in the 42nd minute when she combined with Yuka for a one-two before nailing the finish.

Mouchon finished off a fast break in the 50th minute to add to West Ham’s misery, and a beautiful chip goal from Leicester substitute Saori Takarada made it 5-0 in the 76th minute.

West Ham at least had something to smile about late when a powerful header from Asseyi registered their first goal in the 90th minute.

Asseyi added a second six minutes later with an opportunistic toe-poke.
