Masked home invaders shoot man before pouring petrol through home in Carnes Hill in Sydney’s southwest

A man has been shot twice during a terrifying home invasion in Sydney’s southwest.

Eight men wearing face coverings forced their way into the home on Mary Wade Place in Carnes Hill about 12.45am Tuesday.

They were confronted by a 25-year-old man who lives at the home before shooting him twice, according to police.

The men poured petrol through the home, which did not ignite, before the men left the home in two separate cars.

Paramedics rushed to the scene where they treated the man for gunshot wounds to his right leg.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A car parked in the driveway of the home was also damaged by gunshots, police said.

Police said the incident is believed to be targeted.

Anyone who may have information or who might have dashcam or phone footage is asked to contact police.
