The Duchess of Sussex, 42, donned the Giuliva Heritage Lena maxi skirt and a matching button-up shirt on International Women’s Day in March.
Complete with silk threads and a subtle stripe pattern, the beige skirt carries a hefty €960 (£828) price tag.
Described as “a full-length silk skirt in grey and beige with side zipper”, the Italian-made garment is the perfect spring staple thanks to its modest cut and flattering, gently ruffled hem.
While Meghan Markle is known for her slender figure, the style is a versatile and stylish option for any body shape thanks to its flattering silhouette.
But there’s no need to spend a fortune on a close replica of the Duchess’s skirt as Marks and Spencer have one priced at just £37.50.
The M&S Collection Lycocell Blend Maxi Slip Skirt in the shade Ecru is available in three categories of sizing; petite, regular and long.
Carried in sizes six to 24, the beautiful design is a must-have for spring – no matter the weather.
Its low price comes from the absence of pure silk but the 60 percent viscose and 40 percent Lycocell blend give the same satin-sheen to the flattering skirt.
On the M&S website, the product is described as “elegant” and “versatile”, with an elasticated waist for a flexible fit and “soft folds” throughout the flowing maxi length.
It’s even complete with a lining to provide good coverage and “a graceful drape”.
The fit is described as true to size so there’s no need to size up or down, and the skirt has garnered a four out of five stars review online.
One shopper wrote: “Great price for a lovely floaty skirt. Lovely fabric and very feminine to wear – looking forward to nicer weather to show it off.”
However, some M&S shoppers have warned that the skirt’s fabric is prone to creasing. One review said: “Nice enough. Long isn’t maxi but with flats it looks nice – comes to my ankle (I’m 5:8). Love the fabric but does easily crease.”
A third agreed that it does crease easily, despite being a “flattering style”. They wrote: “Beautiful skirt in a flattering cut but creases badly. It needed a good iron when it arrived and after every wear which is disappointing.”
Despite mixed reviews, the skirt is selling fast online with some sizes already unavailable as a “popular” choice for M&S shoppers.
While it’s easy to purchase the £37.50 garment instantly online, it’s also available in some stores. Searching for stock near you is easy using the “find in store” tool.
Meghan paired her Giuliva Heritage maxi skirt with a matching long-sleeved shirt and a pair of pointed-toe mule flats; specifically the Valentino Garavani Roman Stud Flat Mule In Ivory.
The designer shoes are currently on sale for £313.60, down from £624.23 at Cettire, but M&S has a great alternative.
Shoppers can replicate the full look with the M&S Collection Raffia Kitten Heel Pointed Mules, which are a recommended style to team with the Lycocell Blend skirt. These shoes retail for a bargain price of £35, unlike the Duchess’s £624 version.
If you can’t get your hands on the M&S skirt, New Look and H&M are selling similar versions priced at just £32.99 and £27.99. Similar pointed mules can be found at H&M for a bargain price of £21.99, or on sale at ASOS for £11.20 down from £16.
