Man’s body found in bush near George Bass Dr in Lilli Pilli, on the NSW south coast

The discovery of a man’s body in bushland on the NSW south coast is being treated as suspicious.

A person on a morning walk made the grim discovery near George Bass Dr in Lilli Pilli just after 10.30am and called police, triggering a large emergency response.

A section of bush has been cordoned off by authorities on the side of the road.

There is a possibility the body was burnt before it was dumped and police are treating the death as suspicious, 7NEWS understands.

Specialist police have conducted line searches in the area.

It is unclear how long the body was there before a member of the public came across it.

Links between the body and any missing persons are being investigated.
