Man taken to hospital after violent home invasion in southwest Sydney suburb of Canley Vale

A man is in hospital after a violent home invasion by a group of armed men in Sydney’s southwest.

The masked men broke into the home of a 42-year-old man on Ravenswood St in Canley Vale about 11pm on Monday night.

The men were armed with a gun, with police saying they believe they heard gunshots coming from inside the home.

No one is believed to have been shot.

The 42-year-old man was assaulted inside the home during the invasion.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital with a number of injuries.

The armed men fled the scene with cash taken from inside the home in a black Audi Q5 SUV.

A manhunt is now underway for the men.

Police believe the Audi was fitted with fake number plates.

At this stage, police say they do not believe the incident was gang related.

Investigations are ongoing.

A crime scene has been established.

Anyone with information is urged to call police or Crime Stoppers.
