Multiple people have been stabbed in separate incidents overnight across Sydney – including a Good Samaritan who attempted to protect a woman during an alleged assault.
The 44-year-old man was on Macquarie St in Liverpool when he saw another man allegedly assaulting a woman in a parked car about 2.20am on Sunday.
Police said the man had attempted to intervene and was stabbed multiple times in the chest.

Paramedics treated him at the scene, before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
The woman was not injured and has since spoken to officers, according to police. The injured man was reported by police as not being known to the other man and woman.
Only a few hours earlier, another man was stabbed after a brawl broke out in Sydney’s CBD.
Paramedics were called after a 20-year-old man was stabbed in the chest with a broken glass bottle when a brawl broke out at Circular Quay about 12.30am on Sunday.
He was treated at the scene before he was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.
The other man involved in the fight left the scene before police arrived.
Both incidents are currently being investigated by police.
