Man shot in groin in drive-by shooting at Guildford in Western Sydney

A NSW man has allegedly been shot twice in the groin in a drive-by shooting.

The 40-year-old was shot about 12.10am on Thursday in Donnelly St in the Western Sydney suburb of Guildford.

The man was allegedly shot at by an unknown person from a car stopped in front of the Guildford address.

7NEWS understand there were about five gunshots heard by residents.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

A Nissan Pulsar was later found alight in Carramar about 3am. NSW Police are investigating whether that was used as the getaway vehicle.

Police are examining the scene as part of the ongoing investigation, with a forensic van seen at the property.
