A young man has been killed in an alleged hit-and-run crash in Sydney.
The 27-year-old was allegedly hit by the ute after getting out of his car in a road rage incident about 8.45am on Jersey Rd in Blackett.
“Our initial investigation led us to believe the deceased felt threatened by a car following him,” Mt Druitt Police Area Command Duty Officer Acting Inspector Shane Ranee said on Thursday.

“We have information that the same car hit the victim.
“Apparently the victim had got out of the vehicle after being threatened by the car following him, and obviously words were said, and that’s what led us to believe it happened because of a road rage incident.”
The 27-year-old was wearing high-vis clothing at the time of the crash, but police said that at this stage there is no indication that he was working at the time of the incident.
He was located by emergency services about 100m from his vehicle, and police believe he may have been dragged by the ute which fled the scene.
Paramedics treated the victim at the site of the crash, but he died.
“It’s devastating. I feel bad for the victim’s parents and the victim’s family,” Ranee said.
NSW Police are investigating the crash and searching for the driver of the ute.
“Please come forward and hand yourself into police because we will find you,” Ranee said.
The ute in question is white with a metal tray, a black canopy and a black toolbox with metal racks on top.
Anyone with relevant information is urged to come forward.
Routes 745 and 759 are diverting from a part of Jersey Rd due to the crash.
The buses are using Popondetta Rd, Manifold Rd and Carlisle Ave instead and missing seven stops.
