Man dies, passengers injured in crash on NSW’s Barrier Hwy near Broken Hill

A 75-year-old man has died after a two-vehicle crash on the Barrier Hwy northeast of Broken Hill in far western NSW on Tuesday morning.

He was driving a Toyota Prado when his car collided with an Isuzu D-Max about 8.45am, NSW Police said.

The occupants of both cars were trapped for a short time before they were freed from the wreckage, and treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

Inside the D-Max, a 61-year-old male driver and his two passengers, a 61-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man, were all taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The 75-year-old man behind the wheel of the Toyota Prado was taken to Broken Hill Base Hospital where he later died, police said.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
