Man dies in crash caused by vehicle driving on the wrong side of road on NSW Pacific Mwy

UPDATED: A man has been killed, and another man remains in a critical condition, in a multi-vehicle crash on a major NSW highway.

The head-on crash occurred on the Pacific Mwy about 2km north of the Wahroonga exit just before 4.40am on Monday.

“A vehicle travelling southbound collided with three vehicles travelling northbound,” NSW Police said.

A 27-year-old driver in one of the vehicles hit died at the site of the crash.

The 96-year-old man behind the wheel of the southbound vehicle was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The 39-year-old driver of another vehicle hit also suffered minor injuries and was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital, and a 35-year-old truck driver was taken to Hornsby Hospital.

All northbound lanes on the highway were closed, with traffic diversions in place.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
