A man has died in hospital after a three-vehicle crash on a NSW highway.
A semi-trailer crashed with an SUV towing a caravan on the New England Hwy at Wingen — near Scone — about 12.05pm on Thursday, going on to crash into a smaller truck.
The man driving the smaller truck, aged in his 40s, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

He died in hospital early on Friday morning.
The man driving the SUV, aged 63, was also airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
His passenger, a 60-year-old woman, was taken by ambulance to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
The man behind the wheel of the semi-trailer, aged in his 60s, was treated for shock by paramedics at the site of the crash and taken to Muswellbrook Hospital for mandatory testing.
NSW Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
