Man dead, woman injured in truck and car crash on Pacific Highway at New Italy in northern NSW

A man has died after a truck collided with a car on a NSW highway.

Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, New Italy, about 46km south of Lismore, following reports of a crash about 4.45pm on Monday.

NSW Police say the Pantech truck collided with a car, before rolling over, killing the truck driver – a 39-year-old man.

He was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the car – a 40-year-old woman – was treated at the scene before she was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with minor injuries and shock.

“An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway,” police said.

One northbound lane of the Pacific Highway was closed.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
