A man has been charged with street racing after another man was left fighting for life after smashing into a power pole and splitting in half in Western Sydney.
A 22-year-old man crashed his car on Pike St Rydalmere about 10.30am on Sunday, as emergency services raced to the scene.
The man became trapped in his car after it smashed into the power pole, and Fire and Rescue NSW worked to free him.

He was treated at the scene, before being taken to Westmead Hospital.
He remains in hospital in a critical condition.
A crime scene was established and an investigation has been launched.
A 56-year-old Northmead man was later arrested about 5.20pm on Monday at Parramatta Police Station and charged with four offences.
These include dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm — drive speed dangerous, fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm, organise, promote etc race between vehicles, and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm — drive manner dangerous.
He’s been granted strict conditional bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday, October 2.
His licence has been suspended.
