Man charged over fatal two-vehicle collision in Cowra, NSW

A man has been charged following a horrific crash in regional NSW which killed one person and injured several others.

Six people were inside a mini bus travelling from Cowra Bowls Club when it collided with a Kia on Fitzroy Ave about 10.40pm on Saturday.

The bus rolled onto its side, while the Kia collided with a nearby street sign and then left the scene.

Multiple people were trapped inside the bus, while one person, an 84-year-old man, was ejected from the vehicle.

He died at the scene.

The bus driver, a 61-year-old woman, and four passengers — two men aged 41 and 78 and two women, aged 55 and 60 — were injured and taken to hospital.

Police spoke to the owner of the Kia, a 32-year-old man and he was taken to Cowra Hospital for mandatory testing.

He was released but following further inquiries by police he was arrested on Sunday morning.

The man was charged with a series of offences including dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving (occasioning death) and two counts of knowingly making a false/misleading statement.

He was refused bail and will appear before Orange Local Court on Monday.
