Man charged after woman’s body found in car boot in northern NSW

A man has been charged after a woman’s body was found in a car boot in northern NSW.

About 8.10am on Friday, emergency services were called to a unit on Park St at Evans Head, south of Lismore, to conduct a welfare check.

A 60-year-old woman’s body was found in the boot of a car by officers from the Richmond Police District.

A 39-year-old man, believed to be known to the woman, was arrested at the scene and taken to Ballina Police Station.

Police have charged him with murder and improperly interfering with a corpse or human remains, police confirmed on Friday evening.

He was refused bail and will appear at Lismore Local Court on Saturday.
