An unidentified man is sought after allegedly making xenophobic remarks during a convenience store robbery that police are investigating as hate-motivated.

Toronto Police responded on Monday at about 10:07 p.m. to a call about a theft in the Bloor St. W.-Landsdowne Ave. area.

Police said an unknown man entered a store and proceeded to select several items and conceal them within his jacket. Cops said the victim saw the man conceal one item and demanded that he return it. The victim was able to retrieve the item.
However, cops said the accused continued walking toward the exit when the victim realized the suspect had more items concealed in his jacket.
The victim again demanded that the suspect return the items, at which time the suspect allegedly made xenophobic remarks toward the victim before assaulting him and fleeing in an unknown direction.

The man is described as male, 30-40 years old with a medium build, brown hair, and full beard.
