A man alleged to have drugged and kidnapped a woman before photographing himself sexually assaulting her and attempting to extort a $300,000 payment for the images has been extradited from Victoria to New South Wales.
The 29-year-old was due to face court in Sydney on Saturday, after being arrested at Oakleigh East in Melbourne’s south-east on Thursday.
NSW police will allege he directed a group of men who forced a 36-year-old woman into a car at Epping in Sydney’s north-west in April.
She was taken to hospital for treatment the next day after telling police investigating her kidnapping that she had been drugged and sexually assaulted.
Detectives allegedly found her clothing, as well as drugs and bindings believed to have been used in the alleged sexual assault, in the bin of an Eastwood home, not far from where the woman was abducted.
The items were taken for forensic examination.
The 29-year-old man was extradited from Victoria on Friday and has been charged with aggravated sexual assault in company and depriving liberty, detaining in company with intent to ransom occasioning actual bodily harm, using an intoxicating substance to commit an indictable offence, and knowingly directing the activities of a criminal group.
He also faces charges for recording the alleged sexual assault and threatening to distribute the images, with police alleging he sought a $300,000 ransom.
The man was due to face Parramatta bail court on Saturday.
