A 19-year-old man is dead after a daylight shooting in Hamilton on Wednesday.

Hamilton Police were called at about 1 p.m. to 119 King St. W. in the downtown area, near MacNab St. S.

Police said officers found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not identified the victim.

Cops said suspects were seen fleeing the area in an unknown direction. No suspect descriptions have been released and it’s unclear how many suspects were being sought.

Const. Indy Bharaj told reporters that investigators believe the shooting was targeted.

He said several witnesses had been identified and provided statements to the police.

Officers had been canvassing the area for video, Bharaj added.
