An assailant is sought after a young man was attacked by a stranger while on a TTC subway in East York last month.

Toronto Police say a 19-year-old man was westbound on the Bloor-Danforth line approaching Pape Subway Station when he was assaulted by another man around 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 14.

“The (attacker) struck the man from behind with a wooden object,” Const. Victor Kwong said Saturday.
He said the victim was “helped off the train” by other passengers at Pape Station while the assailant remained on board.

Investigators subsequently identified a suspect and have released images of the man hoping members of the public will recognize him and come forward.
“The victim and suspect were not known to one another,” Kwong said.

The suspect is described as 35 to 40 years old, about 5-foot-8, with black hair and a full black beard. He was wearing a black winter jacket, beige-yellow zippered sweater, black pants and black shoes.
