One witness told 7NEWS they heard “screaming and yelling”.
The group allegedly stole two mobile phones before fleeing in a small blue Holden Barina hatchback.
Later, just before 10pm, a 62-year-old brothel owner was dragged to the ground and punched while others searched his Villawood business for cash. Police were told the gang made off with money and left in a hatchback.
The victim was treated by paramedics for facial injuries and was taken to Auburn Hospital.
The teens were spotted in Fairfield East about 10.30pm, but allegedly ran off when officers tried to speak with them.
A 19-year-old was eventually arrested at a nearby home following a foot chase.
“A short time later, police located the blue Holden Barina with two people onboard,” Acting Commander Darren Sly said.
When police approached the hatchback parked on Malta St, they say the driver pulled the machete and swung it at the officers, giving him enough time to get away. The 16-year-old passenger was arrested and both were charged.
With three males still on the run, detectives have a clear message.
“Hand yourself in before the police come knocking,” Sly said.
