“Two persons have been confirmed deceased with approximately a dozen other people being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for various injuries,” NSW Police said.
Specialist police are on their way to the highway, which NSW Police said, “is expected to remain a crime scene for a considerable amount of time”.
The highway is closed about 2km west of Barton Ave, according to the NSW Transport Management Centre.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area, and use Barton Ave, Pipers Flat Rd and Range Rd, in both directions, to get around the closure.
