The trailer for the eagerly awaited Joker: Folie a Deux dropped on Tuesday, sending fans into a frenzy of excitement.
Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role as the enigmatic Joker, with Lady Gaga starring alongside him as the notorious Harley Quinn in the upcoming sequel.
The preview gave audiences a glimpse into the twisted love story of the two characters as they strive to escape their confines.
The film’s synopsis reveals: “After murdering Murray Franklin live on television, Arthur Fleck is incarcerated in Arkham State Hospital, where he meets Harleen Quinzel.
“Their passionate affair spirals into a symphony of musical madness, fuelled by their shared hallucinations, while outside, Fleck’s disciples orchestrate a campaign to liberate him from Arkham, setting the stage for the rise of his criminal empire”, reports the Daily Star.
Reddit was abuzz with fan reactions post-trailer, with one user stating: “I’m extremely intrigued and impressed, I was skittish and worried about the film being a musical but this trailer is getting me hyped again as I loved the first movie. Joker on trial causing chaos and terror is classic Gotham nonsense I’m totally here for.”
Another keen viewer remarked: “Will be nice to hear phoenix singing again. His voice was incredible in Walk the Line.”
