Kamala Harris narrows gap with Donald Trump: NYT poll

(NewsNation) — Vice President Kamala Harris is narrowing the gap against Republican nominee former President Donald Trump, according to a new New York Times poll.

The survey, conducted by The Times and Siena College among 1,142 voters nationwide from July 22-24, had Trump ahead by a slim margin among both registered and likely voters.

A total of 48% of registered voters surveyed supported Trump, with 46% backing Harris.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. received 6%.

Likely voters had Harris just 1 percentage point behind Trump, at 47% and 48%, respectively.

Among registered voters, 61% believed the country is headed in the wrong direction, with 28% responding that the opposite is true.

National polling average from The Hill and Decision Desk HQ has Trump ahead of Harris, 47.8% to 45.7%, based on 81 polls.
