Jon Stewart is returning to 'The Daily Show' for the 2024 election

(NewsNation) — Jon Stewart is returning to Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” for the 2024 election, beginning in February.

Stewart will host the show once a week, on Mondays, and the show’s correspondents will rotate anchor duties the other nights.

Stewart’s first episode will be on Feb. 12 and he will stay with the show through the election, which is increasingly anticipated to be a rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

Stewart hosted “The Daily Show” for 16 years, leaving in 2015. He helped turn the satirical news show into one with serious political weight and brought in a peak viewership of around two million viewers.

He recently left his Apple TV + show over differences with Apple regarding hosts and other content.

“The Daily Show” hasn’t had a host since Trevor Noah retired in 2022. Both Noah and Stewart cited exhaustion from hosting the daily show as a factor in their decision to leave.

Along with hosting the show once a week, he will take on an executive producer role when he returns.
