Jimmy Fallon Uses ‘Empty Room’ At Debate To Fire A Withering Zinger At JD Vance

Presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump on Tuesday debated with no crowd in attendance ― something that GOP vice presidential nominee JD Vance is very familiar with, Jimmy Fallon joked.

“Just like the previous debate, there was no audience. Yep, they were speaking to a totally silent, empty room, or, as JD Vance calls that, a rally,” the “Tonight Show” host quipped in his monologue after the Philadelphia event.

The comedian also threw in a swipe at President Joe Biden, whose terrible performance at a June presidential debate ultimately led to his departure from the White House race and his endorsement of Harris, the Democratic vice president, as his successor.

“Harris was on the right, Trump was on the left, and Biden was at home, wondering, ‘Where do I know these guys from?’” Fallon said.

As part of the rules for Tuesday’s debate, moderated by ABC News, the candidates’ microphones were muted when it was not their turn to speak, and there was no audience present in the room.
