JD Vance’s New Low Blow Shows Exactly What He Thinks Of Women, Critics Say

JD Vance (R-Ohio) is continuing to make misogyny part of his brand, and his critics don’t think it’s going to work out well for him when women head to the polls.

Donald Trump’s running mate on Thursday mocked the intelligence of Vice President Kamala Harris, who sat down with CNN for her first major interview since becoming the Democratic nominee.

“BREAKING: I have gotten ahold of the full Kamala Harris CNN interview,” Vance wrote on social media, alongside a well-known 2007 video of a Miss Teen USA contestant struggling through an answer.

The attack was ugly on several levels. The woman in the video, Caitlin Upton, was widely ridiculed at the time, and later said she became severely depressed and considered suicide as a result.

Vance’s post received support from Donald Trump Jr., who shared it and added, “This is total Fake News from JD. We all know that Kamala isn’t that articulate.”

“JD Vance is really bad at this, isn’t he?” conservative commentator Charlie Sykes said of the attack.

“Apparently he doesn’t know that 52-55% of the electorate is female. Let’s not tell him,” commented George Conway, a prominent attorney formerly married to Trump ally Kellyanne Conway.

Another social media user wrote, “I am dumbstruck that this degree of misogyny is held by a candidate for the Vice Presidency. The GOP hates women, clearly and with gusto.”

Hey y’all. Look at this person running to be Vice President of the United States out there acting like a sexist bully, or a 5th grader. Right now I’m on track to never vote for a single Republican ever again in my life. https://t.co/ljvislQCzr

Someday, your daughter will see & understand the ugly way her Dad @JDVance chose to conduct himself & she’ll be disappointed. This race will end but your degrading behavior toward any accomplished woman, opponent or no, will live on & you won’t be able to undo it for her. https://t.co/1ulE3dwrXx

JD Vance’s handlers should probably tell him at some point that women voters outnumber the misogynistic incels he’s apparently trying to energize. https://t.co/BsbX2gzxVc

This is such a curious and backfiring strategy. Outside of offending women again (which almost seems to be his strategy at this point) it sets the bar so low for Harris that she can easily surpass it in an interview. It does not make strategic sense except as school yard taunting https://t.co/GKjApXPv9H

The woman here, Caite Upton, said she contemplated suicide after this clip went around the world. Vance hardly the first person to use it like this. But still. Let’s be a little classier, maybe https://t.co/nxs9WGWJoH

I remember reading an interview with this pageant girl after her famous flub, and she seemed pretty cool and good-natured.

I forgot about her until today. Now I read that the constant mockery drove her to depression and thoughts of suicide:https://t.co/M6nfJGlA0j https://t.co/gfhqjmquhR

So they use one woman to make fun of another woman. They think we won’t see the misogyny.

JD, you have a daughter. One day, she may see this shit. Your wife sees it now. https://t.co/Ju6MlqLxLU
