One of Hollywood’s funniest couples is no more.
In a joint statement posted to their respective Instagram Stories on Friday, Australian actress Isla Fisher and English comedy star Sacha Baron Cohen announced that they filed to end their marriage at some point last year.
Over a picture of the pair dressed in white tennis gear, a note from the couple read, “After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage.”

The message went on to say that the pair “have always prioritized” privacy, and “have been quietly working through this change.”
“We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy,” the note concluded.
Fisher, who rose to fame on Home and Away, and Cohen wed in 2010 after a long engagement, and share three children.
Cohen is the star behind the Borat movies, and also received acclaim for his role in 2020’s Netflix movie The Trial of the Chicago 7.
Fisher has appeared in popular comedic films including Confessions of a Shopaholic and Wedding Crashers. Her more recent credits include the TV series Wolf Like Me and 2020’s Blithe Spirit.
Rebel Wilson allegations in the spotlight
The couple’s divorce news comes soon after fellow Aussie actress Rebel Wilson made some unpleasant allegations against Baron Cohen in her soon-to-be-released memoir, Rebel Rising.
The allegations stem from 2016, when Wilson and Baron Cohen filmed The Brothers Grimsby together. Wilson has described Baron Cohen as an “a******”, has written that she was “scared” to work with him, and has claimed he was trying to prevent the publication of Rebel Rising.
In the book, she alleges Baron Cohen constantly tried to cajole her into doing lewd nude scenes.
Baron Cohen has denied the allegation that he tried to stop publication of the book, with a lawyer representing the actor saying Wilson’s claims were “demonstrably false”.
Fisher hasn’t addressed Wilson’s claims about her soon-to-be ex-husband, but earlier this week seemed to brush off the saga by posting a photo from a girls’ night out at the theatre.
In the photo, a messy-haired Fisher grins as she sits alongside Australian film producer Bruna Papandrea, Aussie actress Naomi Watts and Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery.
