Investigation launched after woman tries to grab boy off the street in rural NSW

A woman has attempted to grab a boy at a bus stop in rural NSW, sparking a police investigation.

About 7.45am on Wednesday, a 12-year-old boy was at a bus stop on Mooloobar St at Narrabri, about 500km northwest of Sydney, when a woman in a black ute stopped and offered him a lift.

When the boy declined, the woman got out of her car and tried to grab the boy.

He ran from the bus stop.

The matter was reported to police.

An investigation was launched.

Police hope to speak with a woman who they believe can assist with their inquiries.

The woman is Caucasian, about 160cm tall, with short grey and white hair.

The vehicle is a black utility that is heavily scratched with a pink sticker on the rear.

Anyone with information, or who may have dashcam footage from the area, is urged to come forward and contact Narrabri Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
