In a passionate moment during his speech, Hogan called Trump his hero, and referenced the recent assassination attempt.
“What happened last week when they took a shot at my hero, and they tried to kill the next president of the United States, enough was enough,” he said, tossing his jacket off and ripping through his shirt to reveal a Trump 2024 tank top.
As the crowd cheered and Trump beamed in the crowd, the former wrestler continued: “I say, let Trumpamania run wild, brother! Let Trumpamania rule again! Let Trumpamania make America great again!”
The former president has had ties to the wrestling industry for decades and has participated in WWE events, which is how he and Hogan interacted, The New York Times reported. Hogan had said that he was unsure who he would support in the upcoming election but was swayed after Trump’s recent assassination attempt.
“When I saw [Trump] stand up with that fist in the air and the blood on his face — as a warrior, as a leader — I realized that’s what America needs,” Hogan told Fox News on Thursday night.
