How to look younger: Beauty expert shares top tips to achieve plump and glowy skin

Emphasising prevention, proper nutrition, hydration, sleep, and effective cleansing can dramatically impact the appearance and longevity of your skin.

Each of these elements plays a crucial role in ensuring your skin remains youthful and radiant. By integrating these practices into your daily routine, you’re setting yourself up for long-term benefits and a more luminous complexion.

Debbie Thomas, the founder of the D.Thomas Clinic, explained how you can harness the power of these essential skincare habits to achieve and maintain healthy skin.

Her foremost piece of advice for combating premature skin ageing is prevention, with sunscreen being paramount.

She told Express.co.uk: “So the number one tip is prevention and nothing helps prevent premature skin ageing like SPF.

“Studies have shown that up to 80 percent of visible skin ageing, i.e. redness, pigmentation and loss of elasticity is due to UV damage from the sun.”

Consuming a diet rich in whole foods—like fruits, vegetables, and legumes—can also help enhance your skin’s natural radiance.

Thomas continued: “You have heard you are what you eat and this is true for the skin. The more whole foods like fruit, vegetables and pulses you eat the more your skin will glow.

“Add in good hydration through plenty of water and you are giving your skin the best chance at being healthy along with the rest of you.” Beauty sleep isn’t just a saying; it’s a vital part of skincare.

When you consistently get quality sleep, your body enters a state of regeneration, which is reflected in clearer and more supple skin.

“Beauty sleep is not a myth, when you get a good night’s sleep your body kicks fully in to regeneration mode,” emphasised the expert. “Get regular good sleep and you will notice the skin looks clearer and plumper.”

During your facial cleansing routine, use this time to invigorate your skin by stimulating circulation. Make sure you gently massage your cleanser into your damp face for about two minutes.

This not only helps to wake up your skin but also ensures it is thoroughly cleaned and ready to absorb subsequent skincare products.
