Horror moment dog sets house on fire by chewing on battery

The shocking moment a house catches on fire while a dog chews on a lithium-ion battery has been captured on video.

The video, released by the Tulsa Fire Department in Oklahoma, USA, shows two dogs and a cat hanging out in the living room.

Moments later, one of the dogs starts chewing on a lithium-ion battery pack being used to charge mobile phones.

As the dog chews, the battery pack starts sparking before exploding in flames.

Officials have released the video, which was taken in May, as a warning to keep batteries away from children and pets.

“Fire departments all over the country are seeing fires related to these batteries and we want the public to learn about usage, safe storage and proper disposal of these potentially dangerous batteries,” Tulsa Fire Department said.

Fortunately, all the pets escaped to safety through a dog door while the family was also safely evacuated.
