A head chef is fighting for life after being attacked near Notting Hill Carnival in London’s west on Monday night.
Mussie Imnetu, 41, was found unconscious with a head injury in Queensway, Bayswater, just before 11.30pm.
The Metropolitan Police said officers deployed as part of the Carnival policing operation attended and provided emergency first aid until paramedics arrived.

The Swedish national remains in hospital in a critical condition. His family is being supported by specialist officers.
Following extensive enquiries, investigators arrested a 31-year-old Newham man early on Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody.
Imnetu had been visiting the UK on a business trip from Dubai where he lived and worked as a head chef at The Arts Club. He had also previously worked in London and New York, under chefs including Alain Ducasse, Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing.
Police have released an image of him leaving The Arts Club on Dover Street – the Dubai restaurant’s sister venue – shortly after 1pm on Monday in the hope it prompts witnesses to come forward.
“He was alone and wearing a blue t-shirt and black jeans. He later bought a white baseball cap,” police said.
He was later seen arriving alone at Dr Power restaurant in Queensway about 10.30pm – which was serving food from stalls outside and playing music to crowds that had been to Carnival.
Lead investigator Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie said that while the arrest is a “significant step”, police are “still very keen to hear from anyone who can help piece together Mussie’s movements”.
“If you visited Dr Power restaurant between 22:00hrs and 23:30hrs on Monday night or were in the area and saw something, regardless of the reason you were there, please do get in touch,” he said.
“Our focus is on what happened to Mussie.
“Customers at the venue tried to help stop the attack. We need to speak with these people and I urge them to contact us.”
More than one million people were expected to attend the carnival, considered Europe’s biggest street festival, which is an annual celebration of Afro-Caribbean culture.
