One of Canada’s most wanted is off the streets.

Hamilton Police say 21-year-old Habiton Solomon was arrested Friday during an investigation in the city’s downtown core.
Unaware that he was wanted, officers attempted to make the arrest before Solomon fled the area, cops say. He was pursued by officers and eventually caught.
At that time, officers discovered Solomon was wanted for an earlier shooting in Hamilton and a suspect in a Kitchener murder.
On July 22, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a disturbance call in the area of King St. W. and Caroline St. N. for multiple people fighting in a parking lot.
After arriving at the scene, officers discovered evidence of a shooting. Police say there were no reported injuries from the incident.

Approximately three weeks later, on Aug. 13, Waterloo Regional Police say officers responded to reports of shots fired outside a business in the area of Queen St. and Charles St. in Kitchener’s downtown core.
When officers arrived, an 18-year-old male was found with injuries from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, but died of his injuries.

Two other individuals, a 25-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from Hamilton, were charged with manslaughter in the victim’s death.
Police identified the victim as Joshua Tarnue.
Earlier this year, a reward of up to $50,000 was offered by the Bolo Program, in cooperation with Waterloo Regional Crime Stoppers, for information leading to Solomon’s arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing, cops say.
