Group of men smash bus window, ambush Sydney driver in terrifying Little Bay bus attack

A driver in an empty bus travelling through Sydney’s eastern suburbs was ambushed by a group of men who smashed his window and threatened him just before dawn on Monday.

The five males ran out from behind some bushes and stood in the middle of Anzac Pde, near Henry Ln, at Little Bay, forcing the bus driver to stop about 5am.

It is understood they demanded to be let on the bus, and NSW Police told 7NEWS.com.au that the offenders “threw an object towards the front window of the bus, which resulted in the window panel cracking.”

“The 67-year-old driver … was allegedly threatened by one of the males from the group before they left on foot.”

7NEWS.com.au understands the driver was shown what is believed to be a weapon in the waistband of one of the men before they fled.

The driver was not physically injured during the incident, police said.

“The driver has our full support and we will do everything we can to assist him. The safety and welfare of our staff and passengers is our number one priority,” A Transdev John Holland spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au.

“Our drivers have not experienced an incident of this nature since April 2022.”

Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
