Gold Coast are hopeful Ben King has avoided another serious knee injury after the key forward was hurt at training during the club’s mid-season bye.
King, who missed the entire 2022 season with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), sent a huge scare through the Suns camp when he fell to the turf on Saturday.
Initial testing indicated the 23-year-old’s ACL is intact, and the club is quietly confident there is no major damage.

But King had to be sent for scans to determine the full extent of the injury, with the Suns holding their collective breath as they wait for the results.
King is the joint leader in the Coleman Medal race with 38 goals this season, matched by Carlton’s Charlie Curnow.
He is crucial to the Suns’ push for a maiden finals appearance in Damien Hardwick’s first season in charge.
Gold Coast (7-6) sit just outside the top eight at their mid-season bye and resume with a tough away trip against Fremantle at Optus Stadium on June 23.
