Girl narrowly escapes injury in drive-by shooting at Cabramatta home, Sydney

A little girl has narrowly escaped injury during a drive-by shooting at her Sydney home.

The 12-year-old was asleep in bed when a bullet went through the window of her bedroom, her father told 7NEWS.

Police said shots were fired from a white Toyota Corolla into the Cabramatta Rd home about 11.45pm on Tuesday.

The father was asleep in bed when the noise woke him, but he initially thought someone was breaking into the house.

“We were sleeping and woke up … we all heard a bang (and) realised there was a shooting,” he said.

The father said he immediately called police.

Nine people were inside the home, including four children, the youngest of whom is just nine months old.

“Luckily, no one was hurt — everyone in the family is alright,” he said.

“A bullet went through one of the bedrooms belonging to my daughter, and my daughter was still in there at the time.

“Luckily, she wasn’t hurt.

“It was really frightening for her, she was crying all night.”

The dad has “no idea” why someone would target his home and believes it could be a case of mistaken identity.

“I have no idea who would want to do such a thing to us,” he said.

“We are good people.”

However, police said they were “very confident” the attack was directed or targeted.

“The occupants are known to us,” Acting Superintendent Robert Monaghan said.
