Melbourne superstar Clayton Oliver is looming as a big story in the upcoming AFL trade period after bombshell reports on Monday.
AFL Media reports clubs are eyeing a potential play for the midfielder, who is contracted until the end of 2030 on big money, while The Age have named Geelong as a contender for the four-time best and fairest.
The reports come 12 months after the 27-year-old was linked to a move away from the club as his professionalism was called into question.

Oliver ended up staying at the Demons, but had a tumultuous off-season.
He spent time in hospital following a seizure that resulted in a head injury and took an extended break from the club to deal with a host of personal issues that date as far back as last year.
But he remarkably managed to return in time for the start of the season and played 21 games before his season was shut down with finals out of reach.
Oliver showed flashes of his brilliant best, but struggled for consistency and battled through a series of injuries.
But complicating a potential move to the Cats is they are also trying to land Bailey Smith as well.
Both midfielders will command a hefty trade, and it’s hard to see how Geelong could land both.
The Oliver reports come after teammate Christian Petracca’s future was thrown into the spotlight with constant reports of his unhappiness with the club over its handling of his life-threatening spleen injury.
The club shut down any talk of a trade with Petracca committing his future to the club last month.
But the superstar was back in the spotlight a week ago when it emerged he will skip the club best and fairest night to attend a training camp overseas.
The trade period officially begins next Monday, October 7.
