Gaelic band Niteworks announce additional farewell show date in Aberdeen

Scottish band Niteworks have announced an extra concert as part of their farewell tour after 17 years of playing together.

The folk/electronica band was formed in Skye by school friends Allan MacDonald, Christopher Nicolson, Innes Strachan and Ruairidh Graham in 2007.

They have gone on to perform all across the UK and Europe as well as performing at the Belladrum music festival, and headlined Scottish music festival The Reeling.

The band’s music has also been played during Edinburgh’s Hogmanay fireworks display.

After 17 years together, the band announced in November 2023 that they would be disbanding with a “heavy heart”.

It was revealed that the band will be playing their final shows, and after initial dates at Eden Court, Inverness, and The Garage, London in November -the group have now added another concert at Aberdeen’s Music Hall on November 14.

The Gaelic band will then bow out with a performance at Glasgow’s O2 Academy on November 16.

Speaking on the announcement, Allan MacDonald of Niteworks said: “From the outset we were hoping that we could bring the Solas show to Aberdeen, so we’re over the moon that we’ve been able to pull this together.

“We’ve had great memories playing in Aberdeen over the years. And – as a big Dons fan – Chris, our bass player, was keen to bring some good news to Aberdeen following Miovski’s departure!”

Tickets go on sale for the additional date this Friday, August 23, at 9am.
