Freddie Mercury AI hologram show rumours spark after recent Brian May | Music | Entertainment

Since opening two years ago, the ABBA Voyage residency in East London has been bringing in $2 million a week.

De-aged motion-captured performances of the original band play seven nights a week with a live band and special effects.

Following the success, other rock stars approaching retirement age have been following suit.

After completing their final live show, KISS announced that their band would live on forever with similar motion-captured avatars.

On top of that, Elvis Presley’s estate has Elvis Evolution opening in London later this year, with the King returning as an AI hologram. And by the sounds of it, Freddie Mercury and Queen are next.

On the possibility of a Queen show in the style of ABBA Voyage, Sir Brian said last year: “We’ve talked about and looked at holograms of Freddie. We love to be live and dangerous, that’s it, that’s our emphasis.

“Now, when we’re all gone, yeah sure, make an ABBA thing about us, but while we’re here I want to play live.”
