Four children hospitalised following exposure to fumes at Macksville Memorial Aquatic and Fitness Centre

Four children under the age of two have been hospitalised following exposure to fumes at a swimming pool in Nambucca Valley, in NSW.

Emergency services attended the Macksville Memorial Aquatic and Fitness Centre just after 9.30am on Monday.

Five children, all under the age of two, were assessed for exposure to “hazardous” fumes, a spokesperson from NSW Ambulance told 7NEWS.com.au.

One was taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus, while three were taken to Macksville District Hospital.

The fifth child was assessed at the scene.

The conditions of the children are unknown.

Nambucca Valley Council said the pool had been closed.

“Please note that the Macksville Memorial Aquatic and Fitness Centre facility is currently closed and will remain closed until further notice,” it said on Facebook.

“Council will update when a reopen date is known.”
