Fortnite fans are counting down to the release of the next major update. Fortnite developer Epic Games has given update 31.20 a September 17 release date on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Android. Needless to say, the big new update will be accompanied by a period of server downtime, which kicks off in full at 9am BST UK time (matchmaking will be disabled at around 8.30am). While there’s no official downtime schedule, the servers are expected to remain offline until around 11am BST. Daily Express will keep this article updated with the full list of patch notes, information and official announcements on the morning of September 17.
The headline new feature is the launch of a new Marvel-themed limited-time game mode featuring Marvel heroes and villains.
Fortnite’s Day of Doom LTM sees upwards of 32 players duke it out in the ultimate battle between good and evil.
Doom’s Henchmen are tasked with collecting six Arcane Artefacts, which will prevent the opposition from respawning. Eliminate the remaining Avengers and the villains will emerge victorious.
The Allies of the Avengers, on the other hand, must eliminate Doom’s forces before they collect the Artefacts.
Epic explains more: “Doom’s Henchmen have a large number of respawns altogether — reach victory once you and your fellow Avengers have depleted all their reinforcements.”
Elswhere, Epic Games has announced plans to release the new MCU Iron Man skin and items. The Iron Man goodies will be available from the item shop on September 17, most likely once the update goes live.
LEGO Fortnite will receive The Lost Isles content, which adds new environments, Klombos, weapons, items and lots more.

NEW CONTENT
• Marvel Day of Doom LTM
– 32-player multiplayer mode pitting Doom’s Henchmen against Allies of the Avengers
– Doom’s Henchmen: your goal is to collect all six Arcane Artefacts. Once you’ve collected them all, your adversaries will no longer be able to respawn. Eliminate every hero and you’ll emerge victorious!
– Avengers: your goal is to take down Doom’s forces before they collect the Artefacts. Doom’s Henchmen have a large number of respawns altogether — reach victory once you + your fellow Avengers have depleted all their reinforcements.
GENERAL
• Built-In Emotes do not play in Creative / UEFN Experiences.
– We’re investigating an issue where built-in emotes, emotes attached to certain Outfits only, do not play when in a Creative or UEFN experience.
• Unintended loud noise when driving Beskar.
– When driving or being in the Beskar car, a very loud buzzing sound might play at times. Please consider reducing your audio volume before entering the car.
BATTLE ROYALE
• Players cannot switch from 1st to 5th Inventory slot on controller.
– Players may be having issues switching directly from 1st to 5th Inventory slot when pressing “Left” on their D-Pad.
• Pickaxes may not deal any damage on hit.
– After playing other game modes and then loading into Battle Royale, Pickaxes may not deal any damage while in a match.
