Fortnite fans are counting down to the release of the first update of the new season. Less than two weeks after the launch of Chapter 5, Season 2, Epic Games is planning to release a new patch to fix some of the early issues. Fortnite update 29.01 has a March 19 release date on PS4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Android. As the first major update of the season, version 29.01 will be accompanied by a period of server downtime.
Fortnite update 29.01 server downtime will begin in full at 9am GMT UK time on the morning of March 19.
Matchmaking will be disabled shortly beforehand, which means you won’t be able to join a game after 8.30am GMT.
The news was announced by Epic Games on X (formerly Twitter): “Downtime for v29.01 starts at 4:00 AM ET with matchmaking disabled a few minutes prior.”
In terms of what fans can expect, Epic is remaining tight-lipped about the new content.
However, according to Fortnite insider Shiina, update 29.01 is likely to introduce a new Midas event, plus the return of the Floor is Lava LTM.
The Drum Gun is also expected to be unvaulted, while the Chain of Hades ability could join the game.
Needless to say, the new update will also introduce a selection of new skins, not to mention some potential new crossovers.
