Fortnite developer Epic Games is taking the game offline for server maintenance as part of the launch of update 28.20. Coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, Android and PC, update 28.20 will be available to download on the morning of February 7. It will be accompanied by a period of server downtime, which means you won’t be able to play Fortnite (not to mention LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival) for at least a couple of hours. If you want to know when you can log back into Fortnite, check out the 28.20 server downtime schedule below.
The news was announced by Epic Games on X (formerly Twitter), alongside details on when servers will be taken offline for maintenance.
“This next update is lean, mean, and green! Downtime for v28.20 begins at 4 am ET with matchmaking disabled shortly beforehand.”
For UK fans, this means that Fortnite will be taken offline in full at 9am GMT, while matchmaking will be disabled at 8.30am.
Epic hasn’t revealed exactly when downtime will come to an end, but maintenance typically lasts for around a couple of hours.
This means Fortnite should be back online by 11am GMT UK time at the latest.
As you can probably tell from the tweet above, the new update introduces the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Fortnite.
This includes TMNT event skins and items, as well as Mythic weapons and potentially changes to the map. The Party Pizza item will also be unvaulted.
In addition to TMNT, fans can expect new cosmetics in the item shop, limited time game modes and all the usual bug fixes and gameplay tweaks.
LEGO Fortnite, meanwhile, will introduce the Hunting Dagger, as well as new LEGO Styles for classic Fortnite skins.
