An investigation has been launched with the help of the Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue and NSW Surf Lifesavers.

Police have not linked the fishing equipment to missing man Luke Smith, who was on a small boat that capsized in the Swansea Channel on Saturday night.

Three days later, on Tuesday night, the search for Luke was suspended.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
