Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth fans are counting down to the release of the upcoming sequel. The PS5 exclusive RPG has a February 29 release date and a midnight GMT UK launch time. To ensure you can start playing the moment it goes live, pre-order customers can download the game ahead of launch. Considering the game weighs in at over 140GB, pre-loading is most certainly recommended for anybody looking to stay up late.
The reviews certainly suggest it will be worth it, with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth currently sitting at 92% on Metacritic.
The general consensus is that Rebirth improves on its predecessor in almost every possible way.
The open-world setting provides a far greater sense of freedom, while the inclusion of new mini-games makes for a more varied experience.
The addition of new synergy abilities among party members is said to give the combat a boost, while the visuals are described as some of the best yet on PS5.
The only downside is the massive file size, not to mention the inability to carry over your maxed-out Materia and weaponry from FF7 Remake.

It’s also worth noting that while your progress won’t carry over from Final Fantasy 7 Remake, certain bonuses are available for anybody with a PS5 save file.
Anybody with a save file from Final Fantasy 7 Remake will receive the Leviathan Summon Materia. If you have a save file from Episode Intermission, you’ll also get the Ramuh Summon Materia.
