Festivals galore and more to enjoy this weekend in Toronto

There’s a little event in town called the Toronto International Film Festival that you may be familiar with, so perhaps you’ll already be in the city to catch a film or watch for celebrities.

But that’s not the only festival in town.

There is a lot to do, so if you want to get out but don’t know what to tackle first, that’s what we’re here for!

Here’s what you need to know to make the necessary plans.

Cabbagetown Festival

With more than 250 vendors along with live music, DJs, street performers, artisan stalls and shops, food trucks, pop-up patios and restaurants, a kids zone and so much more, you won’t need to go anywhere else.

Also, while you’re in the area, check out the Cabbagetown Art & Craft Show, St. Jamestown Festival, Cabbagetown community-wide Yard Sale, and Blair’s Charity Run all happening, too.

Head to Parliament St. from Gerrard St. E. to Wellesley St. E. and Carlton St. from Parliament to Ontario St. on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Taste of North York

Foodies, consider yourselves alerted as the tastiest cuisines and flavours will be on hand, from Chinese, Indian, Filipino, Korean and more to be savoured. Can you smell and maybe even taste the delicious aromas being cooked up by more than 30 diverse area eateries?

There’s also live music from local bands, art, immersive experiences and trivia, all to keep you entertained.

It’s all at Mel Lastman Square on Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Southside Shuffle

The award-winning blues and jazz festival is back with more than 100 artists that will take to the stages, street, restaurants and other venues as well as vendors, food trucks and an artisan market for visitors to enjoy.

Prepare to be entertained throughout the village of Port Credit and Memorial Park in Mississauga on Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday’s street shuffle on Lakeshore Rd. and Hurontario runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Trinbago Festival

Celebrate the vibrant spirit of Trinidad and Tobago with authentic cuisine, an electrifying lineup of performers, cool craft vendors and so much more.

Join the fun at Nathan Phillips Square on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Taste of the Junction

If you’re hungry for more, discover new culinary favourites from more than 20 local businesses in the vibrant neighbourhood, all while coinciding with the launch of The AR Laneway Project.

Join the fun at the lively street festival on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9p.m. at Jackson Place at 51 Vine Ave.

Dragons Exhibit

Prepare to be enchanted by dragons — yes, dragons — in this immersive experience that features serpentine deities of Mesoamerica to dragons of lore.

Check out Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada’s first new exhibit in four years (included with general admission) beginning Thursday and running daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Whisky enthusiasts, this is the weekend for you, what with master classes, a private dinner, whisky-inspired treats and exclusive bottles available for purchase.
