Family hospitalised after being attacked with crowbar during ‘mistaken identity’ home invasion in Burwood, Sydney

Police say four people forced their way into the home on Lucas Rd, Burwood, about 2am Sunday.

A couple in their 60s and their two adult children were assaulted with a crowbar, before the offenders stole a phone and a set of keys then fled the scene.

All four family members were taken to hospital, where the man in his 60s received stitches for a head injury. They remain in stable condition.

Police believe the attack was random, and the family may have been mistakenly targeted.

One neighbour told 7NEWS he was shocked by the incident as the street — and the family — were very quiet.

“It’s a very quiet neighbourhood,” he said. “It’s pretty bad …. (the family) are pretty quiet themselves. I haven’t seen any problems.”
