J.K. Rowling has never been shy about taking to X to share her feelings on transgenderism.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk has long referred to himself as a “free speech absolutist,” even last year when transgender rights activists blasted him for declaring last year that the “words ‘cis’ or ‘cisgender’ are considered slurs on this platform.”

Musk doubled down, saying the policy did not contradict his commitment to free speech but was rather aiming to put an end to “repeated, targeted harassment against any account.”
But while the X and Tesla CEO has never called out Rowling’s pro-women posts, Musk did suggest she may want to think about lightening up a bit.
“While I heartily agree with your points regarding sex/gender, may I suggest also posting interesting and positive content on other matters?” the 52-year-old billionaire posted on X in response to a weeks-old post from the Harry Potter creator in which she shared her definition of a woman.

Rowling has been posting her views on gender for years, putting her in the bad books of activists, fans and even Harry Potter stars who disagree with her beliefs.
But that hasn’t stopped Rowling from offering up her opinion, even while she is being branded a “TERF,” or “trans-exclusionary radical feminist.”

However, some — including Musk, apparently — might feel that she doesn’t post about much else and it wouldn’t hurt if she changed things up every now and again.
In recent weeks, the best-selling author has angered X users to the point that she was reported to police for “misgendering” by longtime enemy news anchor India Willoughby.
Rowling did not face any charges so that only fired her up more, with the author testing just how far she could go with Scotland’s updated hate crime law, which could see people arrested for using a transgender person’s wrong pronouns.

While some questioned Musk’s ask of Rowling, given his own history of posts about trans-related issues, his concern could very well be about Scotland’s new laws.
While Musk is a proponent on free speech, he recently clarified on X tha thte platform will always operate in alignment with local laws.

Musk’s friendly suggestion to Rowling, which has been viewed more than 2.3 million times, drew a mix of replies, with most people disagreeing with him and questioning whether he’s “advised” other users on what they should post.
Rowling has yet to respond to his post.
