Elderly man struck by car at busy Sydney intersection

An elderly man has been seriously injured after he was allegedly struck by a car at a busy Sydney intersection.

The pedestrian was hit about 9.30am on Friday at the intersection of Wishart St and Graham Ave, Ryde.

The driver of the car, a 48-year-old man, stopped and helped the pedestrian.

The 75-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.

He remains in hospital in a serious condition.

The driver was subjected to a roadside drug test, which returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Gladesville Police Station before being taken to Ryde Hospital for further testing.

Investigations are ongoing
